I work in a broad spectrum of techniques and media such as painting onto prepared surfaces, pencil, photography including the use of light drawing using a long exposure, graphite, chalk and charcoal and abstract. The main focus I have outside of illustration is a strong use of graphics lending well to any animation opportunities.
Applying for this I hope to combine illustration abilities with animation, allowing me to better communicate my ideas for a professional and wider audience. The opportunity to learn new skills offered by the course as well as expanding on my current skills is a brilliant chance to produce work to a higher quality in ways that I may be unaware of. The prospect of working on real life projects and individually explore how to apply myself to professional situations as well as the idea of branching out into new media and working styles is something that I feel can add a great deal to my work when I create future pieces for any prospective clientele. Combining with the experience I hope to gain from the illustration and animation course I wish to follow artists such as Jamie Hewlett in creating the next big animated or illustrated project to have an effect on those who study art and those who enjoy the results, by taking this course the skills I would learn would add a great deal to my ability and capability to follow a creative career in which I hope would have an impact that would span across audiences.
Although I would take a great deal away from studying illustration and animation I will bring my own enthusiasm and creativity in everything that I do. The ambition to simply make anything I produce better than it is will drive me to pursue every task given with a passion, allowing me to reflect back on my own work and bring my own personality into any creation that comes in the future.
